Hosting and server logs
This website is a static site served by a hosting provider. When you visit it, the provider's servers automatically process technical data necessary to deliver the site: your IP address, date and time of the request, the requested resource, browser type, and operating system. This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating and securing the website) and is not merged with other data sources.
Contact by email
If you contact me by email, the data you send (your email address and the content of your message) is processed so that I can answer your request, on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract) or Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries). The data is deleted once your request has been dealt with, unless statutory retention periods apply.
Fonts and third-party content
All fonts and images are hosted together with the site itself. Simply opening a page of this site makes no request to any third-party server.
YouTube videos
The episodes of the video series are hosted on YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. They are embedded in extended data protection mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and, in addition, are not loaded automatically: the site initially shows only a preview image stored on this server. No data is transmitted to Google until you click the play button.
Once you start a video, your IP address, the address of the page you are on, and information about your browser and device are transmitted to Google and may be processed on servers in the USA. If you are logged into a Google account at the time, Google can associate your viewing behaviour with that account; log out beforehand if you do not want this. In extended data protection mode Google states that it does not set cookies used for personalised advertising before playback begins, but it may store information in your browser's local storage.
Because the video is only loaded on your explicit click, this transfer is based on your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR; you can withhold it simply by not starting a video. The transfer to the USA takes place on the basis of the EU standard contractual clauses and Google's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking tools.

This site links to external websites such as LinkedIn. Their content and data processing are the responsibility of their respective operators; this privacy policy does not apply there.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77), for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
